AK

Describe your hand:When i looked at this hand i knew i had made a mistake calling the re raise. I should have folded. I have alot of trouble playing AK . I tends to be less profitable for me. Another thing is if i raise preflop with AK and i hit none of the flop. Is it right to always follow through with continuation bet as long as only 1 caller from flop. Then fold if i get another call? I do this abit but seems to not be working. If its the right play i will continue to do so as i don't want results to influence my play.

how about a king one time on the river.

you are being far too results oriented in your analysis of the hand, this is a clear jam when you are only playing a 20bb stack,  you made the right play 100pct, nice job

I'll defer to flash237's knowledge about short stack play, but I have some thoughts about AK if it's giving you trouble.  If your stacks were deeper in the hand posted, I think you have to be careful of three betting oop w/ AK.  Maybe I'm too weak tight, but unless I know my opponent is LAG, and his 3! range is higher than AK, QQ, KK, and AA, I will usually just call the second bet.

As for continuation betting, I think it's dependant on 1) the number of players in the hand, 2) The flop texture, and 3) your position.  If you are against 1 player who called your PFR, I think you c-bet 90+% of the time.  If you are against two players, I think you need to pay slightly more attention to the flop texture, but you can (and should) bet a high percentage of the time here, too.  Against three or more players, you need to give even more thought to board texture and your position.  I almost never c-bet against three or more players unless I hit.

Someone correct me if I'm way off base here.

I must say that I agree with flash that you made the right play.

A while ago I read from cardplayer where one pro explained that to get the best out of AK you need to see all 5 board cards. You need to hit either A or K and to do that you need many times more than see just 60% of board cards. He suggested going allin with those.
