I don't know who he is but it's not a big secret in the high stakes crowd. Those guys don't typically play people that they have no idea who they are for long periods of time. Durrrr isn't going busto anytime soon. He still has retirement type money. You can best believe that he bought into FTP, even 1% would have cost him big. So couple that with this and you I bet he is quite short.
I read someone say that he could easily get backed. By who? Most people think these stakes are ridiculous, if Durrrr was short and Guy Laliberte showed up someone would have his back but this seems like an ego thing. Most people aren't going to back someone to cater to their ego.
If I was guessing I would guess Durrrr has 20 million behind still. While everyone looks at the various databases there are so many things that aren't accounted for in those scenarios. One that is really big for Durrrr is that he backs a TON of high stakes players. Many of whom aren't trying to play the best in the world.
You might recall at the beginning of this year he ran badly only to recover. I have never seen a poker player willing to gamble for such small edges, that is what makes him who he is. Someone once told me that degrees of tilt is what makes high stakes players. That player is now broke and had won millions. Durrrr seems to think he plays the same when he is up or down. Which only accounts for half of the equation. You also have to factor in how your opponents are viewing you.
Can Durrrr go broke, sure he can, will he, I think he probably will at some point. But not broke like you and me broke. I would imagine Durrrr can just make a call to Howard Lederer for some online infusion at any moment. The question is, when does Howard quit picking up the phone.
Call it Red Pro curse or whatever everyone's favorite online poker hero is taking it on the chin.
