New Bluffware Application

It is very important that you uninstall the old application before you install the new application.

A few of you have been helping us test the app but today is it's semi-public release.  Most everything is the same but the application is much sturdier and addresses many of the bug issues.

This is really still a beta release given that only a few people have used it so please post thoughts and bugs in this thread.  i am pretty sure everyone is going to be happy with it.  This also gives us a lot more flexibility moving forward with newer and better features.

I run XP and it does take up to a minute to load, so keep that in mind.  Vista and Windows 7 peeps shouldn't notice much load time at all.

I wanted to take a second to add to what Beanie has already said here about our new Bluffware (0.18) release.  A couple major things you will notice:

  • Renaming of Powertools -> Bluffware.  We decided to rename the product since Powertools as a brand is too heavily diluted, and the acronym (PT) is too easily confused with another offering (PokerTracker).
  • Corrupted database bugfix.  Some users ran into problems with the internal database that Powertools used after extensive use, where the app would just crash on start.  This has been fixed.
  • Visual representation of cards in the Hands tab (rank/suit -- with colors).  As card players, we've obviously wired our brains to recognize these symbols, so this is a big improvement over the text display of the previous Powertools releases.

But in my mind, the biggest thing about this release is the inclusion of auto-update functionality so that we can easily and securely push out bugfixes and feature adds.  No more uninstalling/reinstalling from here.

So as of today, Powertools becomes officially unsupported and you should grab and install the latest software (Bluffware) from the download tab.

As always, we have a long list of our own ideas on how to further improve this software, but we want to know yours too.  So keep the feature requests and bug reports coming.  I hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoy building it.

Hey Presum3vil,

Can you let me know if the version installed on my laptop is correct or if I too need to revise. Thanks

Pretty much everyone will need to uninstall their current version and download/install the latest.  Even the preview build that was given to mods last week needs to be reinstalled.

It is quitting on me when I click a hand, I run XP. (nice to have netwon back in the latest release, honestly auto updates are the nuts).
