Not digging the Ultra Turbo

I played my first Ultra Turbo 9 handed SNG today. It contained four fish, noted by sharkscope, nd I took advantage of them and lead for chip leader the entire time. So I made the money and its me, a decent player, and a fish with -50% roi and a few hundred down. Next thing I know the blinds are hitting 500/1000 and it is a crap shoot, I was getting hands like 10/3 or 72 and I could only bluff enough to stay as chip leader. The fish ended up winning which I was furious about at the time but Im still greatful for players like him. I ended up going all in with 62 because the blinds were 1000/2000.

Getting to the money was easy, bluffing a lot in the middle stages to get blinds and just waiting. But once in there its a coin toss and I really dislike it.

I normally play both 6 handed and 9 handed Turbo. I like 9 because the bubble allows you to sit out of 2 hands, but the blinds ar normally higher. The 6 handed is just a quicker game in general but the bubble is a little harder yet lower blinds. Ultra turbo is just to fast for semi serious play.

Well, I think that if you play an Ultra Turbo sng, that you should get your mind set that it will a come down to a lot of luck. With the quick blinds, most of the skill level drops, since you don't have to many situations to exploit the fishes leaks. You should be aware that in an Ultra Turbo sng, there will be some points when you get all the chips in with only a 60-40 or something.

Well said sguur, the fish like the Ultra turbos, and good players feed off that. Myself I prefer the normal SNG as you have time to pick up reads on the good reg's, exploit the poor players. The only draw back is the time it takes to play. Ultra Turbos are a crap shoot most times, which takes a lot of the skill out and requires some luck.
